Reproductive System Science Unit
Students will be bringing home sealed envelopes with them today. These envelopes contain a book, study guide, and a few other things. The intention with the book and study guide is for parents to read and discuss with their children. Students should be sure to return the books and completed study guides by Wednesday, May 22.
NWEA Maps Testing
The students will be taking the Language Usage Maps test tomorrow afternoon from 1-2 p.m. They’ll finish up testing the following Monday with the Math Maps. NWEA Maps tests are just one way that we monitor student progress throughout the year.
Last Wednesday, we weren’t able to go to FM Gardens due to the rain. We’re attempting to reschedule for this Wednesday (and hoping the weather will cooperate). Due to the timing of our afternoon, students will need to bring sack lunches and plan on eating early that day; ordering hot/cold lunch will not be an option. Students should dress for the weather and be prepared to spend the afternoon outside. We’re looking for a few parents who might be able to join us; if you’re interested in coming, please let me know–and I can give you any details you might need.
This Thursday evening, we have our 5th and 6th grade spring concert and celebration where students will be sharing music and journal entries and reflections from the year. The concert begins at 7 p.m. Students should arrive at school by 6:40 and wear “nice” clothes for the evening.
End of the Year Details
The end of the year is coming quickly–and we still have plenty of things left to do 🙂 Students need to send in $5 to cover the cost of their Whitecaps tickets (If you signed up to chaperone, please include your ticket cost $16.50 as well.)–checks can be made out to RCS. Also, students received a permission slip last week; this permission slip is necessary for using challenge course items at Camp Roger over our Three Days in the Woods: Spring Edition activities.
The students will receive graded DLR quizzes back in class tomorrow (Monday). We’re wrapping up our theme book clubs and will be launching into a final book club of the year–covering historical fiction books about the Revolutionary War. These book clubs will start towards the end of this week.
The students have a Bible memory work quiz on Tuesday of this week.
